Art recycled at the citadel

Laurent Tixador, DIY artist
In resonance with the event year "the citadel celebrates the ocean", the Navy Museum welcomes in residence Laurent Tixador.
Born in Colmar, he currently lives and works in Nantes. Since 2001, Laurent Tixador regularly participates in exhibitions in France and abroad (CAPC, MAC Marseille, Espace Paul Ricard, Modern Comfort, Frac Reunion, Biennial of Belleville ...). And in 2013, he is the winner of the COAL Art and Environment Prize.
He is an artist of DIY and experience in its broadest sense. His desire is to work as much as the immediate environment offers him and makes a point of honor to use simple technologies.
At a time when recycling has become a major ecological issue, Laurent Tixador is experimenting with a recovery economy by building works with materials found in situ.
During his residency, Laurent will collect on the beaches of the territory only the plastic waste to avoid a return to the sea of the latter where they would become micro plastics ingested by the marine animals. With this waste, Laurent will build the counter of the citadel, a work that will be presented later in the museum's itinerary.
During this meeting, Laurent Tixador will present his career, his way of working and his project at the citadel. A projection of a small film is planned followed by a moment of discovery around the design of the work on which he works.
